Rita Mitchell in her Studio
Rita trained at Southport School of
Art and worked for the Calico Printers Association as a designer colourist. The
use of colour theory in all her paintings stems from this early experience. In
1984 she gained a B A Hons. Lancaster University degree in Fine Art and English.
She has published articles on Art in The
Times Higher Education Supplement and The Artist Magazine.
She has exhibited in galleries in
Lancashire, Birmingham, Nottingham and South Wales and has held 6 solo
exhibitions in Swansea. Her original watercolours are in private collections in
the UK, Australia, America and Japan and her published prints are sent all over
the world.
Since 1992 Rita has concentrated on
building up her Art Publishing Business. She has published over 150 images of
Wales and 29 of England concentrating mainly on Shakespeare country and the
Nottingham area. In 1993 she
published her first 'Wales in Watercolour' Calendar which is now firmly
established as an annual publication.
She works from her home & studio
in Nottingham. However, from February to the End of July 2004 she is
painting in Montreal, Canada.
